It’s a dilemma and a challenge:
Josh Fonger worked with me for 14 years, handling Work the System coaching and consulting. Over that time, he did a fantastic job, contracting with well over a thousand businesses in the U.S. and internationally. But now he has moved on to other opportunities and challenges.*
I’ve written Work the System as a self-contained guidebook so business owners can revitalize their businesses (and their lives) independently. However, some of my readers either can’t do it themselves—perhaps they need accountability and/or a bit more confidence—or they have accomplished great improvement already and seek to embrace the systems mindset and the methodology to an even higher level.
Since Josh’s departure last June, a steady stream of readers/subscribers has continued to request one-on-one coaching and consulting. I’ve informally handled these requests by phone and at no charge. However, it’s been difficult for me to go in-depth with business owners in these brief, off-the-cuff conversations…and yes, it has disrupted my otherwise quite active personal life. For these reasons, I’ve decided not to conduct these brief Q&A telephone sessions.
However! After five editions of my book over a period of seventeen years, I feel obligated to make myself available in some form. So, I will offer occasional small group workshops in various locations nationwide, perhaps one session every few months, with each get-together having at most six business owners in attendance. I will intensively cover Work the System foundational principles, answer questions, address new material, and spend focused one-on-one time with each attendee. All questions will be answered.
We will (usually) schedule these workshops as follows: we’ll begin with an early group dinner on a Thursday afternoon, followed by a short after-dinner presentation. Then, we’ll have a long, intense day on Friday and end with a morning session on Saturday. I will expound on everything I know and will not hold back.
Rather than meeting in a major city, we’ll find a good hotel in a resort town like Bend, Oregon; Lake Placid, New York; Blowing Rock, North Carolina; or Encinitas, California. (We’re open to your recommendation.) Diana will usually come with me. Bring your spouse or friend. They can be pleasantly occupied while we hammer away. Like Diana and me, maybe plan to stay another day or two.
It’s first-come, first-served. For 2025 and 2026 the cost is $5,000 for each attendee, paid in advance. Money will only change hands once we have a definite location and date. Each attendee will be responsible for their travel, lodging, and expenses.
